๐ŸŽ An Apple a day...

Keeps Tim Cook in the building, but not in the corner office.

โ€‹
Apple (AAPL) made it official Monday. Tim Cook is stepping down as CEO on September 1.

โ€‹
His replacement? John Ternus, Apple's head of hardware engineering, who's been at the company for about 25 years.

โ€‹
Cook isn't leaving, though. He'll slide over to executive chairman, keeping one hand on the wheel.

โ€‹
Here's what's wild...

โ€‹
Cook went on Good Morning America last month and shut down retirement talk. Called it nothing more than a rumor. The board made the decision on Friday anyway.

โ€‹
Ternus, 50, has overseen the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, AirPods, and Vision Pro. That boy good!

โ€‹
But the job that defines his run starts now... AI.

โ€‹
Apple's been getting cooked for falling behind on artificial intelligence. They delayed a Siri upgrade last year, brought in a Google (GOOGL) veteran to run AI in December, and the updated Siri is coming this year running on Google's Gemini model.

โ€‹
Under Cook, Apple's market cap went from $350 billion to $4 trillion. Revenue hit $400 billion. That's a resume.

โ€‹
And AAPL isn't slowing down... our algorithm shows a +3.1% move lining up this week.

โ€‹
๐Ÿฅก
The Takeaway: Watch AAPL between now and September 1 for signals from Ternus on AI, because that's the gap investors want closed.

โœˆ๏ธ UAL had a quarter

Then the fuel bill arrived.

โ€‹
United Airlines (UAL) posted a Q1 earnings beat this week, with revenue up over 10% to $14.61 billion and net income up 80%.

โ€‹
Not bad, right?

โ€‹
Here's where it gets ugly...

โ€‹
UAL slashed its full-year forecast from $12-14 per share down to $7-11 per share.

โ€‹
That's a 40% cut on the year, all because jet fuel went from $2.39 a gallon in late February to $4.78 by early April.

โ€‹
The Iran war did that.

โ€‹
Fuel has since come back down to $3.51, but that's still 47% higher than before the first attacks.

โ€‹
UAL is cutting flights to save money, and Alaska Airlines (ALK) pulled its 2026 forecast for the same reason.

โ€‹
American Airlines (AAL) is dealing with the same pressure.

โ€‹
CEO Scott Kirby floated a merger with AAL earlier this year, but Toupee Fiasco (Trump) shot it down on CNBC, saying "I don't like having them merge."

โ€‹
AAL rejected the idea too.

โ€‹
UAL has a pattern of moving around this time of year, and between the fuel mess and a dead merger, traders have plenty of reasons to watch it closely.

โ€‹
๐Ÿฅก
The Takeaway: Watch UAL next week as fuel prices settle, because with flights getting cut and the AAL merger dead on arrival, the stock lives and dies on what oil does next.

๐Ÿฅ UnitedHealth put their foot in it...

And Q1 2026 is the proof.

โ€‹
UnitedHealth Group (UNH), the nation's largest private insurer, has been fighting to prove its turnaround is real.

โ€‹
The past two years were rough. CEO murder. DOJ probe. High medical costs eating into profits.

โ€‹
This quarter, the numbers said something different.

โ€‹
UNH posted adjusted earnings of $7.23 per share. Wall Street was expecting $6.57. Not even close.

โ€‹
Revenue hit $111.72 billion against an expected $109.57 billion.

โ€‹
Then the company raised its full-year profit forecast from more than $17.75 per share to more than $18.25.

โ€‹
The key number to understand? The medical benefit ratio.

โ€‹
That measures how much of every premium dollar goes toward paying claims. Lower means more profit.

โ€‹
UNH came in at 83.9%. Analysts expected 85.5%.

โ€‹
That gap tells you the company's getting its medical cost problem under control.

โ€‹
Toupee Fiasco (Trump) also finalized a bigger-than-expected Medicare Advantage payment rate increase earlier this month, giving UNH more room to grow heading into the rest of the year, though our algorithm is already showing a short-term dip lining up as early as Monday, so watch the open before you step in.

โ€‹
๐Ÿฅก
The Takeaway: Watch UNH heading into Q2 earnings, because a second quarter with that medical cost ratio below 84% is what turns this from a one-quarter beat into a full comeback.
