π₯οΈ CoreWeave's losing more than ever...
And Wall Street's cheering it on anyway.
β
CoreWeave (CRWV) rents out the AI computing power that companies like Meta (META) and Anthropic need to run their models, but can't turn a profit.
β
Revenue for the quarter hit $2.58 billion, up 112% from a year ago.
β
The net loss grew too... $626 million, more than double last year's.
β
CRWV jumped 12% right after the numbers came out, then kept climbing... up 18% by the next morning.
β
Here's why...
β
The company's order backlog (all the future orders it hasn't delivered yet) now sits at $104 billion, plus another $25 billion in new customer deals signed for Q3.
CoreWeave, maybe.
β
To keep building its data centers, CoreWeave's carrying $35 billion in debt, mostly to pay for Nvidia (NVDA) chips.
β
That's a lot of borrowed money... but CoreWeave's finally betting on itself too.
β
The company just told investors to expect $960 million to $1.15 billion in adjusted profit for the full year, its first real profit signal since going public.
β
First time they've said that out loud.
β
Meta tacked on another $21 billion to its CoreWeave deal this year, plus $1 billion from Jane Street, so the backlog's more than paper promises.
β
CRWV is up 26% this year, more than double the S&P 500's gain, racing Amazon (AMZN), Google (GOOGL), and Microsoft (MSFT) to build data centers those three run at a profit.
β
π₯‘ The Takeaway: Watch CRWV heading into Q3 earnings, because it just promised Wall Street a profitable back half, and the $104 billion backlog only holds up if those orders keep coming in.
π Peltz is trying again...
And this time he might actually put a ring on it.
β
Wendy's (WEN) jumped as much as 15% Wednesday and got halted for volatility after news broke that Nelson Peltz's Trian Fund Management is putting together a takeover bid for the burger chain.
β
That's not a small pop for a stock that was only up about 1% all year.
β
Trian's pulling in backup too... other investors, including BlueFive Capital and a major Wendy's franchisee called the Flynn Group, are reportedly helping build the offer.
β
Peltz has been circling this company for over 20 years, buying up shares and pushing for change from the inside.
β
He ran an activist campaign back in 2005, spent 17 years on Wendy's board, and got named chairman emeritus in 2024.
β
He even considered buying Wendy's outright back in 2022... and walked away.
β
This time might be different.
β
Wendy's has posted six straight quarters of falling sales, cycled through three CEOs in three years, and just lost its spot as the second-biggest burger chain in the country to Burger King (QSR).
β
Undervalued and struggling.
β
That's exactly the kind of setup an activist investor waits for.
β
Trian and Peltz together already own about 24% of Wendy's stock, according to a February filing that called the company "undervalued."
β
Neither Peltz nor Wendy's has confirmed the report yet.
β
π₯‘ The Takeaway: Watch WEN for confirmation of an actual bid, because rumor-fueled pops like this one fade fast if nobody follows through.
πΈ Drones just got Toupee Fiasco's blessing...
And one company on the list has his son's fingerprints on it.
β
Toupee Fiasco (Trump) just signed an order taxing drone parts that come from overseas, and four drone stocks took off the day it landed.
β
Unusual Machines (UMAC) popped 15%. Red Cat (RCAT) climbed about 7%.
β
Not bad for two companies most people have never heard of.
β
AeroVironment (AVAV) and Kratos (KTOS) climbed too.
β
The White House wants U.S. drone parts built at home instead of shipped in, mostly from China, calling it a security move.
β
Big military-grade drones face a 100% tariff. Smaller ones get 25%, and the tax varies by country too.
β
Here's what's wild...
β
Unusual Machines added Donald Trump Jr. to its advisory board back in November 2024, and he was holding more than 331,000 shares as of that same month.
β
So the stock that jumped the hardest off his dad's order also happens to carry his son's name on the board.
β
This isn't a one-off either. Toupee Fiasco's already running a $1 billion program to build cheap drones on U.S. soil, with the next phase kicking off this month.
β
His 2027 defense budget ask is a record $1.5 trillion, with $75 billion earmarked for drones alone. Not exactly pocket change.
β
The riskiest drones get taxed in 21 days. Everything else has 180 days.
β
π₯‘ The Takeaway: Watch UMAC, RCAT, AVAV, and KTOS as the 21-day countdown runs out, because a tariff that actually takes effect is what turns a one-day pop into something that sticks.
