πŸ’Ύ Samsung came with receipts...

And Wall Street moved the bar anyway.

South Korean electronics giant Samsung beat quarterly profit at both Nvidia (NVDA) and Apple (AAPL).

Stock fell 8% anyway.

This is the AI investing playbook right now: β€œmore profit than the biggest names on the planet” isn't enough.

The bar is whether you can prove AI demand is still accelerating.

Samsung couldn't.

The drop spread fast, echoing the selloff that kicked off July just six days ago.

Memory makers Sandisk (SNDK) and Micron (MU) fell about 8% and 5%, after running 570% and 220% this year, respectively.

Intel (INTC) and Applied Materials (AMAT) each dropped roughly 8%. Lam Research (LRCX) down 7%, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) down 5%.

A Reuters report added fuel: Chinese AI startup DeepSeek is building its own chip to get around U.S. export bans and cut its NVDA dependence entirely.

South Korean memory maker SK Hynix is also starting trading on the Nasdaq on Friday, July 11, raising $28 billion (the second-biggest U.S. stock market debut since SpaceX).

Memory costs have climbed so high that Apple and Microsoft are now hiking consumer prices to offset it, and MU usually goes down heading into late July.

πŸ₯‘
The Takeaway: Watch MU around Friday's SK Hynix listing because if a $28 billion debut can't bounce the sector, the selloff likely has more room to run.

πŸ”Œ From crypto mines to AI landlord...

And Anthropic just paid $19 billion to move in.

TeraWulf (WULF) started as a bitcoin miner.

Now it builds AI data centers, and it just landed a tenant with very deep pockets.

Anthropic, the AI company valued at nearly $1 trillion, signed a 20-year lease on Monday for a TeraWulf data center in Hawesville, Kentucky.

The deal is worth around $19 billion over the life of the lease and will power up to 400 megawatts of computing capacity, with the first power delivery expected in the second half of 2027.

WULF went up more than 16% before the market opened.

The stock was already up more than 80% this year... and apparently wasn't done.

The company also sold off its 50% piece of a Texas data center to a group led by Fluidstack, doubling down on AI infrastructure over crypto.

β€œThe Anthropic lease validates our strategy,” CEO Paul Prager said.

You don't say.

πŸ₯‘
The Takeaway: Watch WULF for the next AI lease announcement because this Kentucky deal proves the crypto-to-data-center shift works, and a second one makes it a business, not a lucky break.

✈️ High airfare, no apologies...

And Delta's quarter proves the point.

Delta Air Lines (DAL) came in ahead of what analysts predicted for the second quarter, and CEO Ed Bastian made one thing clear: flight prices aren't coming down.

β€œI think it's sustainable,” Bastian told CNBC.

Revenue came in at $17.67 billion adjusted. Earnings hit $1.56 per share adjusted, both above expectations.

For Q3, Delta is calling for $2.00-$2.50 per share in earnings (analysts wanted $2.02) and revenue up roughly 15% compared to last summer.

The flying public's wallet is feeling it. May airfare was up nearly 27% compared to a year ago.

First-class and business cabin revenue hit $6.92 billion for the quarter.

Coach? $6.85 billion.

First time the front of the plane out-earned the back.

Delta hasn't even passed the full fuel cost increase on yet. CEO Bastian said they've only pushed 60% of higher fuel bills onto passengers so far, and expects to hit 100% this quarter.

But costs are climbing faster than revenue per seat. Cost per mile up 21%, revenue per mile up 17%. DAL usually goes down in mid-July, so the earnings pop may have a short runway.

πŸ₯‘
The Takeaway: Watch DAL heading into late July, because costs rising faster than revenue per seat is what matters long-term, and the seasonal down pattern kicks in right after earnings.
